The MCAs are back again making headlines. It is not for anything good as you might imagine but their same old story.

Speaking on Sunday, the governor accused Kitui MCAs of attempting to misappropriate public funds with trips disguised as bonding sessions.

“If we can’t agree on what is good for Kitui people, then let’s agree to dissolve the county and seek fresh mandates from the people,” the governor stated.

Ngilu further accused the ward representatives of malice after the assembly impeached Finance CEC Mary Nguli and rejected the governor’s supplementary budget proposal.

“The MCAs have rejected the supplementary budget because I insisted on putting 80 per cent of the funds under the community-level infrastructure projects for water.

“This is what the people who elected me want, and I will not betray them,” she stated.

Governor Ngilu also stated that Speaker George Ndotto was leading the MCAs in an effort to sabotage her regime.

“You all know that the assembly is headed by a man who unsuccessfully tried to unseat me for 20 years as the MP for Kitui Central, and theirs is just an agenda to frustrate me,” the governor explained.

The governor added: “The people of Kitui voted for me because I had a better manifesto than my opponents. The political squabbles are only frustrating service delivery to the same residents and slowing down implementation of projects.”

MCAs have clashed with the governor since August 2018 when she canceled a three-day retreat to Mombasa.
