What win over Newcastle means to De Gea

Ander Herrera has explained how important the clean sheet at Newcastle United is important for David De Gea.

Herrera said the goalkeeper kept ‘crying’ for failing to keep a clean slate against Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town and Bournemouth. Manchester United won the three matches with great margins though.

“It’s very important and very important for David. We wanted to make David happy because he was a little bit disappointed the last games. I had to cope with him after the game, killing my mind, telling me that he wanted a clean sheet and I’m happy for him as well because he got a clean sheet.” Herrera told ESPN.

In regard to comparisons between Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the midfielder said he respects both managers and drawing comparisons is not his duty. He admitted that the team’s form is way better than when Mourinho was at the helm though.

“I am not going to compare. I said it the last game. I respect a lot what the last manager did for us. The only thing I can say, or the only thing I can talk about, is our form right now. It’s very good, we are happy, we are playing good and I hope we can continue.” he added.
