Julie Gichuru Pens down emotional message to her son

Kenyan Entrepreneur and Media Personality Julie Gichuru has today penned down an emotional message to her son as he is set to begin a new journey.

Gichuru’s son will be joining the University and for his  mom, she has expressed how it is so emotional to see your children grown and  have a whole new life ahead of them.

Julie Gichuru says that this is not the first time she broke down at the fact that her son was growing and the dynamics in life might change with him being away.

She recounts when her son wanted to go to a boarding school and she tried so hard to fight it as a loving mom but then she realized that she was being dramatic.

Only mothers can relate I guess; judging from the comments she got after this long post.

She however says that she is so happy as a parent to see her child growing so into a wonderful man.

Fascinating how she goes on to wish her son the best and shares words of hope and so full of wisdom. A mother’s blessing can take you so far and although this might have broken she is happy for this new journey.

Tears welled up, here was my eldest, saying he was ready to start boarding at school!
My chest tightened, lips quivered as he continued, “… and most of my friends are boarding Mum. I just feel I’ll be more focused on my studies and basketball training.” I burst into tears. He was stunned. There I sat blubbering and blabbering all kinds of things about how this was happening so fast and next he would be in Uni and then we would be gone… and life would never be the same again… Realising I was being incredibly over dramatic, I pulled myself together, “It’s not you my love, it’s me. I AM so happy, you are growing into a wonderful young man but it’s happening so fast, please give me one more year, if you still want to board next year I won’t stop you.” He smiled and hugged me, “Ok Mum, one year.”
And so it was…
***** ⏩ Now, once again, time is playing games with us and he is headed to university, bags packed, a whole new life ahead of him. For years I knew this moment would come & I knew it would break me.
He hugged everyone and said his goodbye’s then came to me, I moved forward and barefoot tiptoed to give him a hug. He leaned down and wrapped me in a warm embrace. I expected a surge of tears, heartfelt sobs but instead I felt a sense of pure calm, contentment & joy! I smiled and whispered, “Be amazing my love.” He whispered back, “I will Mum.” And he was off.
My son,
May you strive, thrive, rise, fall, fail, succeed and LOVE,
May you win, lose, grow, climb, run, fly, LIVE and LEARN,
May you BECOME and BE my love.
#SOAR ❤
