French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco are eager to sign Crystal Palace defender Mamadou Sakho, according to a report on Sport Witness.
Monaco boss Thierry Henry is desperate to sign an experienced centre-back as his side battle to avoid relegation from the French top flight.
Sakho has become one of the key members of the Palace team under manager Roy Hodgson and has cemented his place in the starting XI.
Sakho is also a fan favourite with Palace but Monaco are ready to test the Eagles’ resolve with a bid.
Reports in France claim that Monaco have identified Sakho as a target for the January transfer window. However, the 28-year-old’s current deal with Palace expires in the summer of 2021.
With a crucial second half of the season looming, it is unlikely that Palace will let their star defender go but Sakho could be lured to Monaco by the appeal of moving back to his home country. The offer will need to be huge for Palace to even consider allowing Sakho to leave.
