Nairobi and other major towns in the country were lit up with fireworks displays as Kenyans ushered in the new year in celebration.
Many were gathered at different entertainment spots to dance away 2018 in hopes that the new year would be better.
Nairobians were treated to a fanfare of fireworks at the city center which is well known for these type of displays.
As soon as the clock struck midnight, some Kenyans hit the streets shouting and those in vehicles started hooting indiscriminately.

Some citizens found solace in religious gatherings as they flocked churches to share the gospel of the new year with fellow brethren.
