Actions have consequences and one of those majorly is loss of trust after negative experiences. This is the situation Sonko is locked after numerous acts that have seen him clash with the public lately.
Earlier today Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko halted demolition of buildings in the country, including those built on disputed parcels of land.
Mr Sonko issued the executive orders on Thursday after a phone call with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“I have today declared that no more buildings will demolished until after the festive season is over. We cannot make families in Nairobi homeless during the festive season when everyone is expecting us to give them peace and a conducive environment for the holidays,” said Sonko while addressing some of the affected families .
Later on he has taken to twitter to further announce. He would pursue the demolitions matter in court and ensure the victims of the inhumane act get justice.
Earlier today when I issued orders to stop demolition of buildings in Kayole estate where a private developer used fake title deeds to get eviction notices from our courts. I’ll pursue the matter in court and ensure the victims of this inhumane act get justice. pic.twitter.com/FEIlzEy7ZM

This was not taken well by the public who found him excessively ironical since its his government that approved the constructions.
Just asking…isn’t your county government the one to approve development on that piece of land?
Second weren’t you aware of the case before the courts gave such orders?
Don’t you have a functioning proactive government running the county?

Sonko has also been informed that he has intervened too late.
You come in when people have suffered so much!!! The area MP tried to help but was arrested and taken to court, women rep tried to intervene but her efforts were ignored, now you’re coming in when houses are down? Hapo ulianguka muthiani.

Case had been ongoing for a decade. No one bothered to check the legitimacy of the title deeds in the courts?
Then, jokes included, the evictions & demolishing didn’t start today! The traffic between kayole & machakos can’t be that bad that it takes 3DAYS to show up!!!— Luiz Mash (@Luizmash) December 20, 2018
Do you agree that Sonko is cynical with his latest remarks?
