MANCHESTER UNITED fans were delighted with the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new manager – and were even hopeful that he would also replace misfiring striker Romelu Luakaku in the team.
Manchester United confirmed the appointment of Solskjaer until the end of the season this morning after sacking Jose Mourinho yesterday.
Solskjaer played for United for 11 years, scoring 126 goals in 366 appearances.
And fans reckon he could bring his boots with him when he takes over.
In response to United’s tweet confirming the appointment, one fan tweeted: “He can replace Lukaku upfront as well!”
Another said: “WELCOME BOSS!!”

And another responded: “Once a red always a red! Couldn’t be happier about his appointment! Good luck! #mufc”
Molde confirmed they had ‘lended’ Solskjaer to United in a statement this morning.
“That Manchester United ask Molde FK to lend the manager is by itself an event, and not least a statement of trust for both Ole Gunnar and Molde FK,” a club statement read.
“We are positive to lend Ole Gunnar, we wish both him and the club a success.”
And Solskjaer admits it is dream to be back at United.
“Manchester United is in my heart and it’s brilliant to be coming back in this role,” he said.v“I’m really looking forward to working with the very talented squad we have, the staff and everyone at the club.”
United are set to launch an approach for Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino and want to appoint him in the summer.
