Spending over a month in police custody seems to have changed the Jacque Maribe and her perception of life. The Citizen TV journalist now seems to be positioning herself to dive into politics, if the latest developments are anything to go by.

The Citizen TV news anchor, who is currently facing murder charges in connection with the death of business woman Monica Kimani, threw a birthday party on Tuesday at a restaurant in Kilimani where she invited women from her home county of Murang’a.

Reports from her close associates said that Maribe may be eyeing the Murang’a Woman Rep seat come the 2022 General Election. When reached for a comment on the allegations, Maribe said: “It is something I would be interested in when the time is right.”

The women who attended the party are said to have assured her of their support if she decides to go for it. However, it’s not a shock that Maribe could be interested in trying her hand in politics as she is one of Kenya’s renowned political journalists.

Additionally, Maribe has quite a good number of high ranking politicians as close friends who might have influenced her interest in politics.

The journalist has rubbed shoulders with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, Nairobi Senator Sakaja Johnson and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

Maribe is currently out on Ksh. 1 million bail after she was linked to the brutal murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani on the night of September 3.

Do you think Maribe would be elected if she vied for the Murang’a women rep position?
