Liverpool’s injury concerns ahead of the Manchester United clash

Liverpool stars James Milner and Trent Trent Alexander-Arnold were withdrawn late after taking knocks in Napoli win on Tuesday night in a Champions League encounter.

In a do or die game, Liverpool progressed to the last 16 thanks to Mohamed Salah’s first-half goal. However, there was an injury concern for the Reds as Joel Matip, who played the entire 90 minutes was taken to hospital for tests on his injury.

Klopp, however, said he was unaware Matip was sent to the hospital. Club medical staff were sufficiently concerned to decide that he needed to be accompanied to the hospital.

“Nobody told me anything about [Joel’s] shoulder, so hopefully,y that’s a good sign. Trent got a knock on his foot, we are not sure about what exactly it is. It is painful. Millie had cramps – I hope it was only cramp. That was it, I don’t know anything else,” said Klopp.

“Trent got a knock on his foot, we are not sure about what exactly it is. It is painful,” Klopp confirmed the defender needs assessment.

The loss of Matip for an extended period would be a major blow for Jurgen Klopp who is already without Joe Gomez for six weeks due to a fractured leg.
