It’s been a long time coming but finally! The Nyayo National Stadium is all set to host the December 12, Jamhuri Day celebrations. The 30,000 seater facility which was first opened in 1983 has been undergoing refurbishment since last year to turn it into a world class facility.
Nyayo National Stadium, Kenya’s second largest sports facility is now going to be an all-seater stadium, roofed all round with fitted lifts on the VIP section. The stadium has also been tuned in a way that can allow persons with disability to also enjoy the services in all access areas.
Ministry of Sports PS, Amb. Kirimi Kaberia said that the Stadium will have the playing surface relaid with Bermuda grass as has been done at Kasarani and will be certified by both world governing bodies, FIFA and IAAF.
Today PS Kaberia made a final inspection at the stadium ahead of tomorrow’s celebration and confirmed that it’s all systems go adding that all members of the public are welcome.
