Jamhuri Day Celebrations Will Have This Special Gift For Kenyans, See Here

The 2018 Jamhuri Day celebrations will include a special military display that has not been witnessed in the recent past, Nairobi Regional Commissioner Kang’ethe Thuku has stated. Commissioner Thuku confirmed that the celebrations would go on as planned but with the special display from the 17 batallion which will be the highlight of the day.

“The highlight of the day will be the ‘trooping of the colour’ by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). “This year’s Jamhuri Day will be special as the 17 battalion, the Kenya Rifles, a unit in the Kenya Army will be presented with regimental colour,” Thuku revealed.

The celebrations will take place at the newly refurbished 30,000 seater Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi and will be presided by President Uhuru Kenyatta. Thuku added that members of the public are welcome to the event urging those who plan to attend to be orderly.

“As our top priority, we have conducted a comprehensive threat and risk assessment and made stringent security arrangements to protect the lives and property of all those attending.

“Everyone will be subject to thorough security screening at the entrances, and our officers will be on alert to respond, promptly and decisively, to any incident inside and outside the stadium,” he stated. The 2017 commemorations of when Kenya became a Republic were marked at the Kasarani Stadium where President Uhuru launched his Big Four agenda, elaborating on its four pillars.
