Chief Cartels Unmasked: How Kutuny & Murkomen Mastermined the Maize Scandal

For a long time now, Cherangany MP and his Nandi Hills counterpart Alfred Keter have accused Deputy President William Ruto of being the Chief Mastermind behind the maize scandal.

The duo have made grave allegations against the DP and have even accused him of owning a 500,000 acre Maize farm in the Republic of Congo. Kutuny’s  continuous attack of Ruto did not go well with his lieutenants led by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen.

Murkomen is known to be a fierce defender of the Deputy President William Ruto while Joshua Kutuny is now a leader of a revolt against the DP.

On the Maize scandal, Kutuny stood his ground and insisted that DP Ruto come clean on the grave allegations labelled against him.

Recent revelations have however put the two lawmakers in the spotlight with grave allegations with regards to the maize scandal made against them.

According to Endebess MP Robert Pukose, both senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny are part of cartel behind the troubles in the maize sector,

Speaking in Kitale on Sunday, Pukose  said Kuttuny is linking Deputy President William Ruto to the maize scam to conceal the truth.

Kuttuny and Murkomen last week clashed over the matter during an interview on Citizen TV.

“My friend Kutuny and Murkomen have been purchasing maize here in Matisi through some individuals. Let them not lie to us because they are part of the cartels,” Pukose said.

During the Citizen TV interview, Kutuny also claimed that Ruto has a well calculated move that includes discouraging farmers from engaging in Maize farming and has instead asked them to focus on Avocado and Macadamia Farming.

“The concerns are clear. The DP needs to come out of this matter of maize. One of companies associated with him is being investigated,”said Kutuny.

On the payment of large-sums of money to a few individuals by the National Cereals and Produce Board, Kutuny said that no individual can be paid large amounts of money since shelling of maize takes time.

“There is no day NCPB will pay someone more than 10M, even when you are a serious farmer. This is because shelling of the maize takes time,” added Kutuny

His assumptions did not go well with Kipchumba Murkomen who accused Kutuny of being part of the Akasha brothers drug menace that has even caught the attention of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) in the United States.

Kipchumba claimed that Kutuny is on the radar of the FBI and should therefore trade carefully.

Should Kutuny and Murkomen also be subjected to investigations over the maize scandal?
