Shocking details of Why Ozil missed Arsenal-Tottenham match

Arsenal manager Unai Emery was coy when asked about Mesut Ozil’s omission from the matchday squad that faced Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 2nd December, revealing that the German is suffering from a back injury.

There was a huge doubt cast over Ozil featuring after Emery questioned his ability to cope with high intensity after the win over Bournemouth last weekend,

“We thought about how we can be better in the match today, with a very demanding match physically with their intensity against us and [that’s what] we decided. But every player is important. Also today we tried with three center-backs. It was another opportunity to improve and find our best performance.”

In a post-match press conference after the 4-2 win over arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby, Emery gave little away on why Ozil was omitted from the squad, “He has backache.” When asked when he got the injury the former Sevilla boss replied, “I don’t know.” Emery then refused to comment if he spoke to Ozil about not playing, “This is a good day to speak about players who played.”
