Kevin De Bruyne is still not ready to rejoin Manchester City’s Premier League title defence.

And the Blues boss will find out later today whether Sergio Aguero and Aleks Zinchenko will be fit to travel to Watford for tomorrow’s clash, which could see City re-open a five-point lead over Liverpool. Aguero missed Saturday’s win over Bournemouth with a problem described as a “muscular disruption” by Pep Guardiola.

The manager later said that it was a problem which could have led to an injury if he had played, leading to speculation that he could miss both Watford and Chelsea games.

De Bruyne has been out for over a month after damaging knee ligaments in the Carabao Cup win over Fulham and had targeted the Bournemouth game for a comeback. And Zinchenko was substituted on Saturday after taking a hefty blow from teammate Fernandinho, and was pictured with a cut and an apparently broken nose.

Asked about the three players, Guardiola said that De Bruyne has no chance for tomorrow, but a decision will be made on striker Aguero and Zinchenko after training.

Asked whether the injured players will be available Guardiola said: “I don’t know. We have training at the moment.

“Kevin is not ready but the other two I don’t know.”

Manchester City are top of the English Premier League table with 38 points, two better than second placed Liverpool.
