The touching gesture was spotted by fans on social media after the derby who questioned what the badge meant and why they were wearing it.

One person on Twitter asked: “Anybody know what Klopp’s badge is all about?”

While another said: “What’s that pin Klopp is wearing in the interview? Not the Rainbow laces one, the girl in the green jacket on her phone?”

The badge, which shows a girl in a green jacket, is a pin from the Megan Hurley Foundation which was set up after the Liverpool teenager tragically died in last year’s terror attack at the Manchester Arena.Image result for Marco was wearing a pin badge for Megan Hurley Foundation

A spokesperson for Everton Football Club explained the meaning behind the pin badge.

The statement said: “Marco was wearing a pin badge for Megan Hurley Foundation, a teenager from Halewood who was one of the victims of the terror attack at the MEN Arena last year.

The 15-year-old former Halewood Academy pupil was one of 22 people killed in the blast at the Ariana Grande concert three months ago.

Her owner brother Bradley, who was seriously injured in the explosion, designed the badge while recovering at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Bradley, 21, suffered two broken legs, burns, and a perforated ear drum – leading him to spend four weeks in the hospital, two of which were in the high dependency unit.

From his hospital bed, he came up with the idea of using the skills he had learned on his graphic design course at university to create a pin badge of Megan, which could be sold.
