Old time friends; Uhuru and Kirubi reunite at Blue Economy conference

 

From the look of things President Uhuru Kenyatta had not seen his friend, Chris Kirubi in a very long time. The seemingly excited President did not want to let go of Kirubi’s hand, dragging him along with him.

Kirubi, one of Kenya’s greatest businessmen in a Twitter posted a photo of him and his ‘old time friend’. Kirubi was part of over 17,000 men and women who are in Nairobi for the first global Sustainable Blue Economy Conference.

 

Kirubi was also seen chatting with other leaders and sharing a light moment with Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs Monica Juma.

 

Recovering billionaire businessman Chris Kirubi makes another rare public appearance

It was clearly a delight for many to see the Business tycoon in high spirits after he had a nearly death experience with colon cancer. The Centum boss left the country in November last year for specialized treatment in the United States before returning home in March this year.

When he returned to Kenya, leaders among them former Prime Minister of Kenya, Raila Odinga and Mombasa County Govenor, Hassan Joho visited the ailing business mogul at his Loresho home.

In a photo that emerged, Chris Kirubi was looking frail, a sign that his health had deteriorated with many doubting the the Capital FM and Centum boss would win the fight against.

However, from the look of things, Chris Kirubi is slowly gaining his health back and winning his battle with cancer.

After being spotted at the Blue Economy conference yesterday looking healthy, DJ CK is also making a comeback on radio the DJ for the Capital FM mid day show ‘The Fuse’.

 

 

The 77-year old Kirubi is known as Kenyan businessman, entrepreneur, industrialist and philanthropist. He is one of the Director’s at Centum Investments, a business conglomerate, in which he is the largest individual shareholder.

He is known for his vast investments across various sectors and serves as Chairman of the following companies: DHL Express Kenya Limited, Haco Industries Kenya Limited, Kiruma International Limited, International House Limited, Nairobi Bottlers Limited,  Sandvik East Africa Limited and 98.4 Capital FM.

He is also Non-Executive Director of Bayer East Africa Limited, UAP Provincial Insurance Company Limited and Beverage Services of Kenya Limited.

It’s great news that Kirubi is on his way to recovery and looks way healthier than he did a few months ago. We wish him all the best in his journey to full recovery.
