Kenya’s warned about the most obscene show ever being aired on television

According to Ezekiel Mutua, 10 over 10  is one of the most obscene shows ever to be aired on the mainstream media in Kenya where young boys and girls are paraded in a diabolical show of scatology, engulfed in smoke, amidst blaring and deafening noise.

Speaking to Citizen TV reporter Raquel Muigai in an exclusive interview, the film board boss said the station’s entertainment show, “10 Over 10”, comes after the watershed hours, which means it is only suitable for a more mature audience.

“Strictly speaking, it comes out of the watershed hours; it is not within my gumboots. There is nothing I can do about ’10 Over 10′,” Ezekiel Mutua said.

“The only concern I have is sometimes, I suspect, suspect, that there are underage children, [who are part of the live audience]. It is the responsibility of parents to tell their children to go to sleep by 10pm. But, parents do not know. So, sometimes when Kenyans complain, we still have to show them that ‘yeah, we noted [their concerns]; yeah, they were using bad language; yeah, the dancing was not appropriate. But, [parents], tell your children to go to sleep; what were they doing at 10pm?”

Ezekiel Mutua has, for the longest time , been deemed to be “totally against” the broadcasting of “10 Over 10”, with several times being quoted calling out the show’s host, Willis Raburu, and his former colleague Joey Muthengi.Image result for 10 over 10

The show violates our content regulation guidelines and should be condemned by all decent Kenyans. It’s immaterial how popular the show is or how much money the station makes from it.This is not entertainment. It’s using the precious airtime to destroy the moral values of our young people by providing a platform for them to behave badly. Now, this programs comes out of the watershed period but that does not make it right. Our mandate in content rating and classification for age suitability is between 5am to 10pm. The rationale behind our role as a content regulator is to protect children from exposure to harmful content. For adults, we can only play an advisory role, unless the said content jeopardizes national security. It’s expected that after 10pm all underage children should be asleep and that parents should take responsibility for what their kids watch.
