According to Kisauni Police Boss Sangura Musee, the police were acting from a tip off by members of the public who alerted the officers on patrol about  suspicious consignment being offloaded into a house.

The police officers then went into the place and found about five young men handling the consignment which turned out to be bhang was well-packaged complete with a seal in each of the 10 bales.

The bales were labelled Alex, a man who police now believe was to be the recipient of the goods. Mr. Musee however said that the name could be fictitious adding that they were carrying out investigations on the matter.

“It could be a fictitious name but we are investigating,” Musee said.

The bhang is also believed to have come from outside Mombasa possibly from a neighbouring country.

A detective said that the bhang had flavoured rolling paper and had a label written, “If seal is broken, please check the content inside to make sure it is intact” at the back.

Apart from the bales, some of the bhang had also been packed in small plastic sachets.

“This appears to be a consignment not for the lowly addicts. This is meant for high value clients,” said one detective.

Police also recovered Ksh. 20,000 in different denominations upon a search at the house.
