After details of plan s to take off powers from an Anti-graft agency to Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) emerged, the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) has been working tirelessly to fight corruption.

Recently, they were at Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s homes looking for documents to aide in the investigations into graft allegations, where they in turn recovered 8 guns that saw the governor’s arrest.

After Obado, EACC detectives on Saturday arrested Wajir County Secretary Ahmed Sahal after he was accused of involvement in graft.

On top of the arrested county secretary, the EACC officials are also looking for the County’s Finance executive Omar Daud over misappropriation of funds.

The detectives claim that they are in possession of enough evidence to prosecute the two for engaging in fraudulent activities at the county offices.

“We have material evidence that will assist us to nail the culprits on various grounds of financial misappropriation at the county,” stated a detective.

Sahal was accused of, among other things, the over-recruiting staff at the county offices in the months of May, June and July this year.

Sahal was taken into custody at the Wajir Police Station awaiting to be moved to Nairobi for interrogation.

This comes days after the sleuths at the commission raided the County’s Governor Mohamed Abdi’s houses.

Crucial documents, including company ownership documents and financial statements, were recovered from the county boss’ two houses in Nairobi and Wajir.

He was accused of embezzling more than Ksh.350 million from his county.

The detectives also arrested the County’s head of treasury’s wife, Sonia Mworia, and accused her of destroying documents linked to the graft.
