God before religion! Ben Kitili hits back at wedding critics

Not only Kenyans but human beings in general are always so quick to judge others and give their own opinions on various issues. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, we sometimes ought to draw the line and remind ourselves that not everything requires a reaction.

It is often said that if you don’t have anything kind to say, then don’t say it at all. If only some of us could live out this statement, this world would be a better place.

KTN news anchor Ben Kitili last week on Friday left the single’s club when he tied the knot with his girlfriend  Amina Mude. The ‘invite-only’ wedding was super low-key as the two exchanged vows at the Attorney General’s office and later held a reception party at a Nairobi hotel over the weekend.

The two love birds are said to have been living together since 2015 and a blessed with a three-year-old daughter.

Amina Mude being a Muslim and Ben Kitili a Christian, the union between the two has sparked conversations online as many criticised Kitili for marrying into the Islam community.

Why so much hate on the internet? A lot of the backslash has come from Islam extremists who have decribed the union between Kitili and Amina as ‘haram’.

The KTN news anchor Ben Kitili  has now said that he respects the opinions of those who criticized his marriage with his long-time companion Amina Mude but has vowed to protect his family should anyone cross the line. He further thanked his Muslim brothers and sisters for their warm reception.

“A great day when I married the wife of my youth..thanks for your warm wishes.. To my Muslim/Somali brothers & sisters; thanks a lot.. To those who are not so receptive; it’s your right as long as you don’t cross the line..God is more important than religion.. #WajirsFinest,” read the tweet.

Apparently, according to Islamic belief, the marriage between a Muslim woman and a Christian man is prohibited as it is a violation of the sharia law.
Ben Kitili however responded to the claims saying that, “God is more important than religion.”

I guess all that matters really is that the two love each other and have made a commitment to live together in holy matrimony. According to reactions from Ben Kitili, his shemejis from Wajir where Amina hails from have embraced him and endorsed their marriage.

The least KOT could do is congratulate them or otherwise stay out of it because it really does not concern them.
