I Can’t Hustle On Earth and In Heaven – Ruto Defends Generous Donations

Deputy President William Ruto is a man that is so focused on making it to heaven regardless of what the ever increasing number of his critics say. The DP has constantly said that nobody will stop him from spreading the gospel by helping in building the churches.

This has come amidst a backlash from various political leaders with many demanding that the DP be investigated and his sources of funds revealed.

The deputy President, while attending a service at Dandora’s Soul Harvesters Church International said that he does not care about what people say about his generosity and that he could not stand being a hustler on earth and in heaven.

“Mimi siezi kubali kuwa hustler hapa duniani na pia nikuwe hustler kule mbinguni,” (I cannot be a hustler on earth and be a hustler in heaven)

Ruto’s sentiments came just hours after Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi called on the Kenya Revenue Authority to audit politicians donating millions of shillings to churches.

Mudavadi wants the taxman to establish the source of revenue and if the people involved are meeting their tax obligations.

He said the information acquired by KRA will also boost the fight against corruption as well as enhance the collection of taxes.

“We have people in the country who are donating more funds than Safaricom is donating through its foundation. We know Safaricom is the biggest company in the region and such people do not have companies close to Safaricom,” Musalia said.

The former Vice president was speaking when he joined his friends for a church service at Ruaka PCEA in Kiambu County.

He said Kenyans must unite in the fight against corruption so that everyone can good health, education and better roads.

William Ruto on the other hand has described himself as an evangelist dedicated to spreading the gospel and supporting churches.

He also pointed out that he was raised by Christian parents.

“If not a deputy president, I would be an evangelist,” he once said at Karatina Stadium.

He added: “I know there are charges against me for helping Christians in churches. I plead guilty to the charges so there is no requirement of witnesses. I am not ashamed of my faith.”

The DP donated at least Sh60 million in different harambees in the six months to July, almost eight times his salary in as many months.

At the functions he attends, Mr Ruto almost always delivers a bundle of crisp notes, well-arranged and into the hands of smiling members of the clergy.

It is a trend he has vehemently defended, arguing that “unlike God, who gave His son as a sacrifice, none of us is being asked to give more than we can”.

Even in his immense generosity, Mr Ruto argues that while he is not a poor man, he is being subjected to scrutiny together with those he says are much richer than he is.

Regarding a lifestyle audit, the deputy president has constantly said he is ready as he has nothing to hide.

Do you think Ruto should reveal the source of the funds he donates to churches?
