Chelsea ‘will not stand’ in Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s way if he wants out

The Blues have started life under Maurizio Sarri almost perfectly – with the Italian going unbeaten in all competitions to date.

Chelsea sit third in the league behind Manchester City and Liverpool – who are also unbeaten.

And while there are problems with strikers, that cannot be said about the Chelsea midfield.

There is an abundance of talent all vying for spots, with new signing Jorginho and 2017 PFA Player of the Year N’Golo Kante nailing down two of the three spots.

The remaining place is still up for grabs with Sarri employing a rotational policy to date.

Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley and Loftus-Cheek have all been used in the role but it is the latter that has been backed to leave the club in the future.

Loftus-Cheek spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace where he impressed so much Gareth Southgate took him to Russia for England’s World Cup.

But he has struggled to break into the first team this year back at Stamford Bridge, and former Arsenal star Ray Parlour reckons the club would not stand in his way if he were to request a transfer away.

He said: “[Loftus-Cheek] is getting more opportunities now and I thought it was very positive what Sarri said about trying to get both [Barkley and RLC] in the team, which could happen.

“All they’ve got to do is keep putting in those performances and really put pressure on the manager then who knows.

“There’s a certain time in your career when you’ve got to play on a regular basis. They’ve now got to decide when that’s going to be.

“Whether their representatives do that or whether the manager will or whether they will themselves. I’m sure the club won’t stand in their way if they say: ‘Look, we need to go and play’.”

When asked whether he is aware of calls for him to leave Chelsea, Loftus-Cheek replied: “I hear it a lot, and I can see why people are saying that, because I’m 22 now and haven’t got too many Premier League starts to my name.

“I haven’t played too many minutes, whether it be in the Premier League and the Championship, and at 22 it’s not seen as enough by some people.

“I do hear it. I love the club and I love Chelsea, I want to play for Chelsea.”
