Death is so cruel it takes the best.

Ex-KBC journalist Milton Nyakundi is a victim as he just lost his wife Rebecca Njoki Gitu after she reportedly miscalculated her footsteps before drowning in River Laikipia, few meters from Nanyuki Police Canteen.

And as family and friends prepared to lay her to her resting place her husband Milton Nyakundi penned an emotional message following the untimely departure of his wife, Becky.

“It’s the final day of the final journey of my sweet wife Becky Gitu and I confess I have no idea what this is going to be like but I submit everything to the Almighty God.”

On Thursday, friends and family members gathered at Maxwell SDA in Nairobi for prayers before the team departed to Nyamira for burial.

Former Kisii Town Mayor Sam Nyangeso described the death as ‘tragedy’, adding that police should thoroughly investigate the circumstances under which she died.

In his speech he said, “It’s a tragedy when a young family loses the loved one. Police must tell us why she had head injuries yet it was just drowning.”

She died while in the company of two other friends after having few drinks at Nanyuki Police Canteen, with initial reports indicating that the friends reported the matter the day after.

Mr Nyakundi worked for Kenya Broadcasting Cooperation as sports anchor before joining Football Kenya Federation as communication officer.
