West Ham warn Mourinho target that Man Utd move could damage career

Did you know that West Ham are planning to resist all January offers for £20million signing Marko Arnautovic and have warned the Austrian that a move away could damage his career? Will this affect Jose Mourinho’s side Manchester United?

The Austria international signed for West Ham from Stoke in 2017 and has become a key component of the squad since.

Arnautovic has, however, been subject of recent interest from Manchester United and the forward has spoke of his desire to play at the highest level.

In an interview with Austrian newspaper Kurier he said: “I’m 29, so that’s the best age. It’s clear I want to compete with the best players.”

His brother Danijel, who acts as his agent, was far less vague and suggested a move away for his client was a real possibility.

“That’s possible [that he could leave]. It was already very, very close this last summer.

“He’s a big part of the West Ham team but I think it’s possible to tease out more of him. For that to happen, he has to play for a top team. Marko is ready for the next step.”

Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini, however, has issued a warning to Arnautovic that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and that he should remain committed to West Ham.

“I don’t think it is a good idea to go immediately to a big team because he would maybe not start every game like he does here.

“Maybe we will see what will happen in the future but right now his mind and his commitment is with West Ham.”

Do think the Austrian star move could really destroy his career as Westham claim?
