Margaret Kenyatta ‘makes it rain’ in Tharaka Nithi county

‘Maji ni Uhai’ and it is so exciting when we see leaders who are ready to contribute to the well being of Kenyans by showing concern on their needs. Tharaka Nithi county which is said to be a semi arid region today received water blessings after the official launch of a water treatment plant.

Earlier today,The First Lady Margaret Kenyatta was joined by her friend, H.E. the First Lady of Zimbabwe, Auxillia Mnangagwa  to officially commission the Kajuki Water Treatment Plant in Tharaka Nithi County.

According to Margaret Kenyatta, this treatment plant will provide better options for clean water and storage. “It gives hope to families, that the future of their children is protected from the burden of illnesses originating from waterborne diseases.” she said

Margaret Kenyatta applauded Kenya Redcross, the Nairobi Ram Katha Famine Relief Fund and their partners, for investing resources towards this noble cause.

Kenya’s first lady believes  that we can make a difference and achieve great milestones when we come together to serve.

The Secretary General of the Kenya Redcross Abbas Gullet noted that  access to safe and clean water is a basic human right enshrined in our Constitution and Kenya red cross is happy to serve  communities through such a noble project.

The water project was funded by the Government of Kenya and Nairobi Ram Katha Famine Relief Fund and Tharaka Nithi County assisted with the implementation.

The thirst of Kenyans will be quenched by this multi million project  which will be serving  the current population of 5,000 ppl with capacity to serve over 20,000 in the future.

The project has been implemented after the prolonged and heavy long season rains of 2018, when several key water treatment sources were affected by resulting flooding in various parts of the country.
