Reds fans will be willing Jose Mourinho’s side to cause an upset in their derby clash against Manchester City, with the Etihad outfit threatening to dominate the Premier League for the second year in succession.

After Pep Guardiola’s side romped to a record-breaking title success last year, they are two points clear of Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham, who have played a game more, after 11 rounds of this campaign.

Now a third of the way in the 2018/19 campaign and it’s far too early to be dishing out the Premier League title.

The Reds have held top spot more than once this year, but last weekend’s draw to Arsenal saw them lose ground on Pep Guardiola’s side at the top.

And it is a day where the Reds will be in the unusual position of wanting both of their fiercest rivals to win.

Liverpool host newly-promoted Fulham at midday, before Chelsea take on Everton at 2.15pm. Elsewhere, Manchester City host Manchester United at 4.30pm, while fifth-placed Arsenal host Wolverhampton Wanderers. Top spot could change as many as three times over the course of the day.

Victory for the Reds would see them move to the top of the table, temporarily at least. Chelsea could do the exact same with a win, barring a big goal-difference swing, while Manchester City only need a draw to finish the weekend in first place.
