In the three day Safari Sevens tournament played at the RFUEA Grounds, Kenya Shujaa survived a scare from a spirited Spain side before edging them 31-26 to qualify for the Safari Sevens Main Cup final. However, Samurai edged out Shujaa 20-19 to lift the 2015 title but Shujaa would claim swift revenge, beating Samurai 38-22 to win the 2016 diadem. Shujaa couldn’t defend the title last after the tournament failed to take place.

In the first semi-final, Spain rallied from behind twice to draw level 14-14 at half time before making it 26-26 at full time and send the match to extra time where Harold Anduvate touched down to send Shujaa to the final.
