Fabinho reveals the changes Jurgen Klopp told him to make to break into Liverpool team

Did you know that Fabinho had a difficult start at Liverpool? Do you know what Jurgen Klopp told him to do so as to break into his side? Well, Fabinho has opened up on his difficult start at Liverpool  and what Jurgen Klopp told him he needed to do to break into his side.

The Brazilian arrived from Monaco in a £40m deal in the summer but had made just one Carabao Cup start until he was brought in for the win over Red Star Belgrade last month.

Fabinho has gone onto start Liverpool’s last two games and is expected to keep his place for Sunday’s visit of Fulham.

He admits it was “horrible” to not feature at the start of the season having even failed to make the matchday squad more than once.

Speaking to the Times, he admits there were areas he needed to improve before getting his chance.

“I wanted to play earlier but I had to work hard. I was strengthening my body because in the Premier League it’s a different game, the physicality is different.

“Klopp wanted me to adapt, get acquainted with teammates and become used to the second-nature things players in a system like this should be doing. The coaching staff would show me pictures or videos of what i could improve – and there were many things.”

Fabinho admits his role under Klopp is similar to the one he is used to playing at Monaco – although the intensity is significantly different.

He added: “One of the reasons Liverpool wanted me is my ability to tackle, win the ball back and put pressure on the opposition.

“I hope I can continue to show those strenghs. When I wasn’t playing the fans had a great attitude towards me. They sent many messages, encouraging me to carry on, and this inspired me.”
