The controversy surrounding the practice of abortion continues to rage on as the KFCB Boss Ezekiel Mutua recently weighed in on the fact that Marie Stopes health facility has been publicly advertising abortion despite the warning issued to the them by the Kenya Film Classification Board.

Mutua’s statement comes days after a group of Kenyans under the organisation CitizenGO wrote to the Cabinet Secretary for Health Sicily Kariuki demanding that Marie Stopes licence be revoked for its abortion ad.

The advertisement by the  health facility has been promising ‘solutions’ for unwanted/unplanned pregnancies to women and young girls. The ad has been seen as a way of promoting abortion, which is illegal in Kenya unless the life of the mother is in danger.

“Marie Stopes an International Chain of Clinics in the world have been advertising abortion on demand in Kenya and other parts of Africa. It is evident that the chain of clinics offers abortions even when this is illegal in a record 52 African Countries out of 54.” reads Citizen Go letter in part.

The Marie Stopes facility in Kenya through their twitter handle reacted to this letter saying that the banning of the health facility will not be the end of women procuring abortion and will only expose them to quack clinics.

Mutua has however noted that the health facility has ignored the warning and will therefore have to face the law.

According to Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board has already began investigations and KFCB together with the Board are filing a suit against Marie Stopes.

“We warned Marie Stopes about their abortion adverts and they ignored us. Now the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board has commenced investigations and we are filing a suit against them. Sooner or later the chicks will come home to roost. The long arm of the law will one day catch up with these purveyors of immorality. They do it for money, but the damage caused to the youth is too grave. God is watching.” reads Mutua’s post in part
