Goodbye sundress, hello trenchcoat! Rains expected in Nairobi

For the most part, 2018 has been a cold year until recently when we started enjoying some sunshine. Are you one of those people who has been enjoying wearing sundresses and shorts? Well, the weather man says it’s time to put away your sunscreen and sunglasses and pull out the trench coats and boots you had shelved because it’s about to get muddy in Nairobi.

The meteorological department has now warned Nairobian’s of rain over the weekend. In a tweet, the Met department advised those attending the Safari Sevens rugby tournament to brace themselves for the rain and advised them to carry umbrellas.
The annual Safari 7s three-day rugby tournament kicked off today at 9 am at the  Rugby Football Union of East Africa (RFUEA) grounds in Nairobi, Kenya and is expected to run till Sunday.

“Attending #SafariSevens this weekend? Carry an umbrella and a jacket. Rains are expected in Nairobi over the weekend,” read the first tweet.

“Attending #SafariSevens this weekend? Wear closed shoes. It might be muddy because of the expected rains and the road construction around RFUEA grounds,” the weatherman added.

According to the Met Department, Nairobi will experience rain from Sunday to Tuesday, in the mornings and afternoon showers over few places. This warning comes after the department warned in a forecast issued on October 30, that rainfall is expected to continue over several parts of the country.
