Pregnancy! Pregnacy! Another candidate defers exams due to labour pains.

The attention of exams is now shifting to pregnancies. In the previous past we used to hear of exam cheating, it was the cause of headache to Ministry of Education.

But right now the girl child  is taking over.

Can we blame it on the ‘baby making’ weather which hit the country this country?

But no , these are school children, most of them under 18 years of age. Does it mean we have so many ‘children eaters’ out here  right now.

Who is the cause of all this cases. If you remember the #ifikieWazazi, it was a loud warning of the level of ratchetness in our children. Did you think that it was only a social buzz topic or trend? No it is happening.

MWINGI, Kenya, Nov 6 – A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate at Precious Blood Girls, Tyaa in Mwingi has deferred her exams until next year after going into labour.

She was rushed to the Mwingi Level Four Hospital where the Medical Superintendent Henry Mumo stated that she had complications and had to undergo an emergency Caesarean section.

According to the Mwingi Central Education Officer Joseph Javi, the student wrote a letter to the Ministry of Education saying she was unable to sit the exam after the operation.

Another candidate of Enziu Secondary School went into labour while sitting the English Paper One exam and was rushed to the Mumbuni Hospital in Mwingi where she had anormal delivery and continued with the exam at the hospital.

This is the fifth case in the county since the exams commenced Monday, according to Kitui Police Commander Alex Kamitu.

On Monday, four candidates delivered at the Mwingi Level Four Hospital and Kitui Level Five Hospital.

The cases involved students from IPC Mathuma Secondary School, Enzuva Secondary School, Vinda Secondary School and Ungatu Secondary School.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) Chairman George Magoha attributed the high rate of teenage pregnancies in the recent past to lack of family values.

Speaking after opening an exam container in Kamukunji, Nairobi early Tuesday morning, Magoha advised parents to spend time with their children.

He explained that if they do not make time for their children, someone else will influence them resulting in early pregnancies.
