Remember the journalists who confessed they had been paid by Sports CS Rashid Echesa to frame Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala.
The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has revoked their accreditation cards after they confessed receiving KSh 5,000 from Sports CS Echesa to photoshop fake naked photos of Kakamega Senator Malala with unknown woman.
However they had been set free by the court after Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi established the sections of Computer Abuse and Cyber Crime Act which they had been charged under were non-existent.
Despite of them being set free by the court,MCK CEO David Omwoyo announced the media self regulatory agency had proceeded to punish the scribes after their confession of flouting professionalism and ethics of practice.
In a statement shared by Omwoyo on Twitter,
“The Media Council of Kenya has considered your testimony and particularly your admission that you failed to conduct yourself with professionalism and ethics as required. The agency has made decision to withdraw the accreditation card issued to you with immediate effect pending further consideration of matter,”

The council directed the journalists to surrender their accreditation cards to its secretariat within three days, failure to which will amount to commission of an offense.
Omwoyo indicated that further action about conduct of the journalists who had publicly confessed to their mistakes would be taken.
What do you think of the MCK move?
