Can you imagine being in a situation where you are not invited for your husband’s funeral? The thought of it sounds deflating to say the least. However, one woman, Lerato Sengadi, the late Jabulani Tsambo’s (HHP) wife was determined to take her rightful place as HHP’s wife even when death ‘did them part.’
Ms. Lerato Sengadi had made an application to the Gauteng South High Court to halt the funeral proceedings adding that he Tsambo family was side-lining her and had told her she was not welcome at the funeral because they did not recognize her as HHP’s widow.
Although the Gauteng South High Court has recognised Lerato Sengadi as late hip hop star HHP’s customary wife, the court turned down Ms. Lerato’s application to interdict the funeral and Judge Mokgoathleng ruled that his funeral must proceed.
The judge says, lawfully #LeratoSengadi would be correct to stop the funeral, however applying Ubuntu and that #HHP believed in African culture, it would not be judicious to stop interdict the funeral from going ahead. #HHPFuneral KM

According to the Judge, HHP was a national hero, and deserves a decent funeral. He asked Ms. Lerato to attend the funeral in the spirit of Ubuntu. The judge also ordered the Tsambo family to return all of Jabulani’s documents, hard drives and the keys to his Randpark Ridge home to Lerato.
Fans and members of the public are out in numbers to honour and pay their last respects to the king of Motswako. Mourners have gathered at the Mmabatho Convention Centre in Mahikeng to bid a final farewell to late hip-hop star HHP, also known as, Jabba.

The Bosso hit-maker has been afforded a civic funeral by the North West provincial government. HHP’s casket was transported in an official procession by traffic officers and fire fighters from his home in Unit 5 to the convention center which has been set for a fitting final farewell.
His colleagues in the music fraternity are expected to honor him with musical performances aimed at celebrating his role in South African hip hop.

HHP will be laid to rest at Mmabatho cemetery in a section of the cemetery known as the Heros’ Acre. His widow, Ms. Sengadi, had wanted HHP to be buried in Westpark Johannesburg saying that this was where all his friends were and where his life and work revolved around.
Do you think the ruling of the court was a win-win for both Lerato and the Tsambo family?
