He was given the name cannibal by the late Poxi Presha although many people do not know that he decided to embrace it.
Cannibal explaining the reasons for his name which sounds creepy to others this is what he says “I waited to be the baddest and look like the meanest in the industry and that is why I embraced the name”
The real name of the artist are Ralph Sanda Maasai. His hit song that brought him to the lime light was ‘Sweet Brenda’ which made him win the Kisima Award.
This was way back in 1999 and the artist has made great moves and contributions in the music industry. His first contribution to the gospel industry was on a recent major remix collabo in a song called ‘Kwani’. Cannibal said that being allowed to be part of this song was a warm welcome in the gospel Industry
The Kwanii Remix was a collabo with Weezdom, DJ Sadic, Kris Erroh, Holydave, Stonee Jiwe. The artist also revealed during an interview by a local TV station that he will be dropping a new single soon.
His transition did not come easily the artist admitted that back then, his life was on a first lane growing up in Mombasa was not easy.. he was into a controversial lifestyle but he knew his limits, being the first born he knew where he wanted to be.
On meeting Jesus, Cannibal the chosen one revealed that there was a dark cloud during the time when he wanted to be an MCA.. it is in these trials and tribulations, that he gave his life to Christ.
“I met with a great man of God Pastor Leonard Kingston, he used to move with me during my campaigns and used to pray for me. I used to attend his fellowships.
In the fellowships the power of God hit me heavily and he started prophesying on my life and every time I was there, I got hit with that power and I connected with that space because life is spiritual.”
On what other people think about him, the artist says that he is only moved by what God says. “I want my fans to know that Cannibal is still the same only that I have seen the light” he said
“My fans followed me when I was leading them nowhere but now I am leading them where the truth is…as a gospel artist you cannot give what you don’t have… So I had to retreat and feed on the word”
