I am not a fool! Uhuru fires back at Mt Kenya battalion

Well he has broken the ice.

President Kenyatta has finally broken his screaming silence regarding his stand come 2022 general election.

The President has been silent for the longest time regarding the whole debate of him retiring from politics.

While on tour in Nyeri County, President Kenyatta, told residents and leaders to stop worrying because he will lead the region in 2022 on which way to go.

He further warmed politicians to stop politicking on the 2022 elections.

In addition he said, “Don’t think I’m a fool by keeping silent on issues of politics; I will give my voice come 2022.”

The head of State was speaking during the opening of the Karatina market after nearly a decade of wrangles, which had stalled the project.

The construction of the project, which was commissioned in 2010, had been affected by politics and constant change of contractors.

The market, which is the second largest open air market in Africa after Nigeria’s Kano, started operating in 1938 as a barter trade centre. Transactions were done under a small tree known as “Karatina” (Kigelia africana).

The market eventually sprung into a shopping centre during the construction of the Nairobi – Nanyuki railway line.

In 2009, the then coalition government under the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) mooted the idea to upgrade the market, a key economic lifeline of Karatina town and its environs.

Deputy President William Ruto’s allies have been claiming that the president had failed to honour his promise of backing DP Ruto in 2022.

Earlier in the week  Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen together with other Rift Valley MPs had put pressure on the president him to come clean on claims that they are no longer reading from the same script with his deputy.

Things got stirred within the Jubilee administration after March 9 when Kenyatta made peace with his bitter rival in the 2017 presidential race Raila Odinga in a historic handshake.

The handshake rattled Ruto’s backers who fear that Raila will spoil Jubilee succession gameplan.

What do you think of President Kenyatta’s sentiments?
