Arsenal boss comments on Ramsey as his exit nears

Aaron Ramsey’s contract expires at the end of the season with a new contract yet to be offered by Arsenal, manager Unai Emery was non-committal when asked about the contract developments of the midfielder.

Ramsey has been linked with a move to Manchester United and their cross-town rivals Manchester City should Arsenal fail to offer him a new contract. Ramsey was selected to start in the 2-1 win over Blackpool as Arsenal sealed a place in the quarterfinals of the competition.

Emery praised Ramsey’s work ethic when asked about how an update on the midfielder’s contract talks, “The most important thing for me with Aaron is, I spoke with him last week, and his spirit, his quality, his performance, his focus to us in training, in matches like today. And also Sunday when he played 20 minutes against Crystal Palace.”

The Spaniard went on to talk about how Ramsey is vital to the club, “He plays with spirit, with focus. He’s working very well. I think Aaron is an important player for us. For me, I want him to stay with us, to work with us, to give the team the big performances with his quality. I think he is going to stay here with us
