Ugandan mother has been arrested after killing and mutilating her one year old daughter.
Hariet Nakalema is said to have rushed the child to hospital after excessive bleeding but she was confirmed dead
Doctors who suspected foul play conducted a autopsy on the body only to find the private parts, uterus and intestines.
Hariet with the help of her houshelp pulled out her daughter’s uterus, intestines and private parts which was to be used for rituals.
According to reports by Kampala Metropolitan Police, the disturbed mother later rushed her child to hospital where the little girl was pronounced dead. Doctors later faulted the baby girl’s death on foul play as the explained she lost her life as a result of excessive bleeding.
The suspicious doctors then alerted police which arrested the two women.
When the house was searched, detectives recovered intestines, suspected to belong to the deceased, fitted into the kitchen sink, a bucket and clothes soaked with blood.
However, her private parts and uterus were missing.
When asked what had happened to the little girl, the mother reportedly told police that it was the devil that had cut her daughter into pieces.
When the police probed her, the baby’s mother stated the devil was behind the gruesome murder of the toddler.
However, Hariet later apologized for the heinous act after which she admitted her employee helped her murder the little child.
Annet Mwagale, Hariet’s housemate revealed the mother was paid by Annet’s sister who lives in Canada to send the little girl’s organs abroad for ritual purposes.
“Through the intensified search of her accomplices, Kira Road Police was able to track down and arrest Annet Mwagale and her mother Annet Mulindwa (68) who had gone back to erase any possible evidence at the scene of crime.
Upon questioning, Annet Mwagale told investigators Nakalema was paid by their sister Rwensisi Angella who now lives in Canada to send fresh body parts of a young baby for ritual purposes. Mwagale told police that they used a pair of scissors to chop off the private parts of a young baby girl,” the police report read in part.
She reportedly told police that they used a pair of scissors to chop off the girl’s body parts.
The female suspects are currently detained at Kira Road Police Station on charges of murder contrary to section 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act.
