Blow for Chelsea as dependable duo suffer stomach ache and tired legs

Chelsea will have to do without Olivier Giroud and Pedro Rodriguez in the fourth round Carabao Cup clash against Derby County after they developed complications following the 4-0 win over Burnley on Sunday 28th October.

Pedro started the game against Burnley over the weekend but was substituted after half an hour. Giroud, on the other hand, came on in the 74th minute for Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions when they welcome Derby County to the Stamford Bridge on Wednesday 31st October.

Chelsea’s assistant manager, Gianfranco Zola confirmed that Pedro and Giroud are doubtful for the clash.

“There is Pedro, who has had a stomach ache. He came off Sunday. He was getting better, but there is still a little problem. We don’t know. We can assess him tomorrow. Also Olivier Giroud he has a little fatigue problem with one of the legs. We’re going to assess him tomorrow as well.”
