This might just be a Goliath Vs David moment in Kenya! But wait a minute, are we ready for this?

A local newspaper, on Tuesday carried a headline that has got all talking about the leadership  battle constantly taking shape in Kenya as kids of the forefathers come together in what is seen by political commentators as attempts to keep the power to themselves and their kins.

One person who has constantly stood out in the battle of leadership taking on these forces is the son of  a peasant Samoei named William Ruto who is also the current Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya. Ruto has managed to remain tight on the Hustler title resembling his efforts up the ladder from a humble background.

On one side there are said to be sons of former president Jomo Kenyatta, Uhuru Kenyatta who is the current president, and former bitter opponents Raila Odinga who is also a son a former Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. The duo’s recent handshake that has assured hope and brought back peace in the country since they control a large part of the voters.

Their handshake has been cemented by the recent move by William Ruto’s fierce rival and son of former president Daniel Arap Moi, Gideon Moi’s recent moves to side with Raila Odinga and support the referendum since he believed to be targeting a collaboration between his party KANU and ODM, which is now friendly to the government.   This leaves Ruto somehow an isolated man.

Despite this seemingly isolated status, politicians have rushed to his side and supported his bid for presidency in 2022 being the leader who seems to have a direct through-pass after Uhuru, the latter having already assured him of his support during the 2017 elections. Here is where the catch is however!

President Uhuru Kenyatta has never declared openly that he wont support Ruto despite his handshake with Raila Odinga; neither has he stated that the handshake is a political pact to back Raila or an ODM candidate come 2022. Ruto’s supporters have however openly expressed their displeasure with the handshake and have been warning thet it has enough potential to split the big dream that is Jubilee Party.

Ruto has however kept off the debate and stuck to the development agenda insisting that the time for elections will come. His handlers have however been singing to a different tune and attacking Raila. It isn’t not however a walk in the park as however as his detractors have managed to brand him as ‘the most corrupt man’ on Kenyan soil.

Do you think William Ruto has the capacity to floor his super oiled opponents who are hell bent on denying him a chance to enter statehouse?
