While speaking in an interview with Radio Jambo’s ‘Mazungumzo Waziwazi’, Aladwa  based his argument on Uhuru’s ‘youthfulness’, maintaining that he must be retained after his retirement in 2022.

‘’Rais Uhuru ako na miaka 57 na atakapotoka atakuwa na 61, sioni makosa akitafutiwa nafasi nyingine serikalini (he will be only 61 in 2022, lets retain him in government),’’ said Aladwa.

This is the second time Aladwa is speaking of his support towards president Kenyatta, the first time was during the Uhuru Market cleanup in Nairobi on October 6, in the presence of the Head of State.

The madakara legislator further defended his sudden support for Uhuru, including his leadership and anti-graft moves, even after placing himself among his worst critics until early this year.

He attributed his U-turn on Uhuru’s March 9 truce with Odinga who also doubles up as the opposition’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, the party on whose ticket he (Aladwa) is in office.

‘’Raila waliposalimiana na Rais nami nikaingia serikalini. Mimi namuunga mkono Rais kwa sababu ya Kiongozi wangu Raila (I crossed over the moment they reconciled. I support Uhuru because of Raila),’’ added the Nairobi County ODM Chair.

Uhuru who came into office in 2013 is on his second and last term.

Aladwa is know to Odinga’s biggest supporter and Uhuru’s biggest enemy.

His turn around support towards President Uhuru Kenyatta has shocked many, the law maker now joins other politicians like Babu Owino who have changed their feelings towards president Uhuru and expressed support towards his agenda.

This has been speculated to have been attributed by the hyped March 9 handshake between President Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
