FKF Goes in Hard On Foreign Coaches

Football Kenya Federation have ordered Kenyan Premier League and National Super League teams to employ coaches, who have attained a class C certificate.

Federation President Nick Mwendwa has said that the new rule will take effect immediately. “We want clubs to effect the new rule before the start of the new season. All the clubs must submit to us the CV of their respective coaches and we will forward the same to Caf and Fifa for verification.

“We will not allow any coach to handle a team before we verify whether he or she has attained the Caf C license.”

The FKF boss said its technical committee will give permission to clubs to hire foreign coaches. “Any foreign coach wanting to work in Kenya will be required to give us his papers and pay Sh100, 000 which we will send to Caf for verification. Before a club gives out a contract we must approve the same. If anyone goes against these, we will sanction them.”

Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards are likely to be affected by these new rule as the two clubs are fond of hiring foreign coaches.
