Manchester legends tears into Mourinho

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has run out of excuses, says former Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince.

The Red Devils have had a below-par display this season and they currently lie 10th on the log having lost three matches already. They also got knocked out of the League Cup by Derby County and sit five points behind Juventus in the Champions League group.

Ince believes the Portuguese’s time is up and, worse, reckons the club has no presence and that the players don’t know how to play together.

“It looks to me like Jose Mourinho is stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea. Realistically, he wants to play defensively and nick a one nil win, but he knows that the fans and players at United won’t accept that. And they’re right not to,” Ince told Paddypower.

“We’re three seasons into Mourinho’s reign now. There are no more excuses. You’ve spent a lot of money if I was managing a team and they’d given me three years, and it was clear we weren’t up to standard, I’d expect to lose my job. Are we getting to the stage where United just aren’t good enough? Yes. They’re slipping too far behind, and can’t compete with the best sides anymore,” he added.

United will look to bounce back from Juventus’ 0-1 defeat when they take on Everton over the weekend.
