The people of Mbale county of Vihiga had a moment of manna from heaven after a lorry that was transporting rice turned over in the area.
The villagers around the area decided to carry the bags of rice and win themselves free supply of food that had landed in their place.
The trend of people getting goods from overturned vehicles has been rampant in Kenya. Instead of people saving lives or reporting the incidences they tend to benefit themselves first.
This trend in 2009 , Molo led to lose of hundreds of lives after a lorry carrying petroleum overturned in the area and the residents decided to go and scoop the petroleum that led to an explosion that burned many people a live.
Looting goods in transit from derailed vehicles is heartless and must be discouraged at all costs

The government has come out boldly to condemn such actions saying they are risking human lives and that it is criminal. Although so far their are no measures put in place to curb such actions.
Kabisa. These are the people who wait for accidents to happen.
Umesha wahijiuliza, accident ikifanyika pesa, wedding rings, ushanga, watches, mobile phones, laptops na tablets za wenye wamefariki huenda wapi.
Hii tabia should be stopped.— John N. Kuria (@JohnKur53875295) October 22, 2018
Most people have also come out boldly to condemn the action because it is simply looting. This even happens when accidents occur, people rush pretending to be helping but in real sense some always go to grab what they can get from the injured before rescuing them.
The government needs to set up punitive measures to curb recurrence of such things that may even lead to lose of lives bearing in mind the Molo tragedy.
