MCA drama cycle reaches in Kisumu County

It was a dramatic day at the Kisumu County Assembly after Members of County Assembly attempted to rough up the Chief Sergeant-at-arms George Amayo during the afternoon session.

It all started when Mr. Amayo allowed police officers into the chambers to contain the situation as MCAs protested when the temporary speaker, Eric Agola adjourned the afternoon session in what the ward representatives said was illegal.

The MCAs shouted at the police officers forcing them to leave the chambers. The legislators then went after the Chief Sergeant-at-arms, with a video capturing the scene showing Mr. Amayo being pushed and shoved by the agitated county legislators. The Sergeant-at-arms unleashed his gun and fired to scare the rowdy MCAs who were threatening to beat him up.

Police officers from the nearby Kisumu Central Police Station intervened to calm the situation while Mr. Amayo was escorted to the police station with an angry crowd that wanted to attack him. He was disarmed when he got to the police station while the MCAs involved recorded statements over the incident.

This Kisumu incident is one among many dramatic scenes at the county assembly chambers across the country, which are always making headlines for the wrong reasons.
