Kiunjuri Has Haters. CS says he will deal with them

A few days ago, Former Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo told the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Mwangi Kiunjuri to resign before he gets sacked.

“Bwana Kiunjuri; resign before the chief gets you, it’s imminent that he’ll catch up with you,” Kabogo tweeted.

Addressing the media today, the Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri vowed that he will not resign despite pressure from social media users, the media and ‘politically frustrated people,’ possibly referring to Kabogo.

“To my haters, I have listened to you carefully, even on social media. Some of you are politically frustrated. You look for anything to make yourself relevant. I assure that when the right time and moment comes I will deal with you. I rest my case,” the CS said.

The CS has been under immense pressure to quit his job after the President expressed his disappoint in the ministry headed by Mr. Kiunjuri.

“Time for jokes is over. Look for those stealing public resources, bring them we take them to jail or you will find yourself in trouble over these issues,” the President warned the CS in his Mashujaa Day speech.

Kiunjuri however says that, ever since he took office, the ministry has only received Ksh. 2.4 billion adding that maize farmers have so far received Ksh. 9.4 billion.

“I joined the ministry in February 2018. I was made to believe that due process was followed in paying maize farmers in October 2017,” Kiunjuri noted.

Mr. Kiunjuri confirmed that 152 persons are under investigation and two them being; Anthony Kipngetich and Isaiah Kipkemei who were paid during his time in office.

According to the CS, Kipngetich and Kipkemei received Ksh. 8.2 million and Ksh. 5.7 million respectively. Kiunjuri added that he raised concerns to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as to how the money was disbursed but claims that no action has been taken yet.
