Thierry Henry’s first Monaco teamsheet had Leonardo Jardim listed as coach

It’s been a hectic few weeks for AS Monaco and the confusion showed as the Ligue 1 club submitted their teamsheet for the weekend’s game against Strasbourg.

Despite the official sheet bearing the signature of newly-appointed head coach Thierry Henry, Monaco still made the clumsy mistake of listing Leonardo Jardim as their manager.

Jardim was deposed on Oct. 11 with the team languishing down in the bottom recesses of the French top tier after a disastrous start to the season.

The botched documentation seemed to serve as an omen for Henry’s first game in charge as Monaco slumped to yet another poor defeat — 2-1 at Strasbourg — thus leaving them in 18th position and winless in their last 10 league outings.

Of course, Monaco’s gaffe isn’t the first teamsheet to go awry, with Chelsea appearing to use templates from the previous season when they accidentally replaced Andre Villas-Boas’ name with that of ex-boss Carlo Ancelotti for a League Cup game in 2011.

There was also Torino’s misguided attempts to welcome Joe Hart aboard ahead of his debut for the Italian side by getting the on-loan goalkeeper’s name completely wrong.

Frenchman Henry, 41, saw his side go behind when goalkeeper Seydou Sy fumbled an Adrien Thomasson header.

It got worse for the visitors when Samuel Grandsir saw red for a high foot, before Strasbourg substitute Lebo Mothiba made it two for the home side.

Monaco, Ligue 1 title winners in 2017 under Henry’s predecessor Leonardo Jardim, who was sacked on 11 October, have failed to win in 11 games in all competitions since the opening weekend of the French top-flight season.Their six-point tally from 10 games this season is also the club’s worst start since the 1953-54 season.

The result sees Strasbourg rise to sixth in the table, with the principality side left to focus on Wednesday’s Champions League group match at Club Brugge.
