Measures that will be taken on students who cheat in exam

President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday, gave a stern warning over cheating in examination. He said parents of candidates caught with stolen tests during the national examination exercise which began today will be sent to jail.

Kenyatta said that candidates found cheating in exams will on their part be sent to approved schools.

The Head of State further warned that teachers who get involved in exam malpractices will also be thrown into jail.

President Kenyatta, who spoke at the Kapsabet Showground,  said the severe measures will be implemented to protect children from being led astray.

He added that the Government is justified in beefing up the security at examination centres because it is necessary to stop those who are intent on compromising the national examinations.

“Children in Standard 8 cannot raise the huge amounts of money to buy examinations. Where does a child get Kshs 100,000 to pay for a stolen exam? It must be their parents who are paying,” said the President as he called on parents to raise their children properly.

President Kenyatta said children should be allowed to develop according to the talents they posses because forcing them to engage in exam cheating will just ruin their future.

“Let us allow our children to develop according to the talents they have,” said the President.
