These Are 2 Reasons Why Ruto is Assured of Presidency – Boni Khalwale

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Sunday gave two reasons why he believes Deputy President William Ruto is assured of the Presidency.

Speaking during a church fundraiser at Annex, Eldoret, Khalwale declared his support for the DP saying he made the decision after realizing it will be impossible for any other candidate to defeat Ruto come 2022.

“I have long experience in Kenya’s politics and I know it’s not possible to defeat a government candidate in an election,” the former Kakamega Senator stated.

Secondly, Khalwale opined that Ruto has always been on the winning side of the Kenyan politics.

“That is why I have decided not to waste my time elsewhere,” he remarked.

Khalwale further revealed that he recently met DP Ruto for 12 hours in Nairobi where they discussed politics in the country.

He equally noted that he has worked with Ruto for long and hence there exists mutual understanding on several matters.

“DP Ruto knows me and I know him well because we have been friends and we have also fought,” he added.

Khalwale stated he was already waiting for the IEBC to announce Ruto as President come 2022.

An analysis on Kenya’s political scene ascertains Khalwale’s allegations both on the candidature of a person in the government and on Ruto’s political past.

For instance, none of the four President Kenya has had ever lost an election during their tenure in office.

The only exemption is in 2002 when Uhuru Kenyatta lost to Mwai Kibaki despite being backed by the then incumbent President Daniel Moi.

Again, Ruto has in most cases been in the winning camp including in Kibaki’s NARC in 2002, the Orange camp during 2005 Constitution Referendum, and Jubilee Alliance Coalition (2013) and Jubilee Party (2017).

Nevertheless, Ruto’s camp has lost in several occasions including the controversial 2007 presidential elections when he supported  Raila Odinga and during the 2010 Referendum when he unsuccessfully opposed the Constitution amendment.
