Politicians Among Mourner’s At Sharon’s Final Journey.

Family, Friends and Political Leaders are currently gathered at Magare Village in Homa Bay County to give slain Rongo University Student Sharon Otieno a befitting send off.

Rongo MP Paul Abuor is among the politicians who have arrived for the ceremony.

Mr Abuor called for an amendment of the Constitution to have murder suspects denied bail. “This will help victims get justice. The suspects should remain in custody until proven innocent,” said Mr Abuor.

The murder of Mrs. Sharon seem to have affected the good working relationship that Homa Bay County under Governor Cyprian Awiti shared with Migori County Under embattled Governor Okoth Obado.

Leaders from Homa Bay County want the Migori governor shown no Mercy as they demand for justice for one of their own.

A group of women rights activists from across the country have condemned the murder of the 26-year-old. Nairobi Women Representative Ester Passaris yesterday saw off a delegation of mourners who were destined for Homa Bay to attend Sharon’s burial.

Unimpressed Kenyans have however reacted saying that the move by the Nairobi Women Rep was uncalled for and that she is seeking public attention.

Ms Otieno was killed about a month-and-a-half ago and her mutilated body found in a thicket in Oyugis.

After being reluctant to bury Sharon for a long period of time, his family says that the belief that they will soon get justice for their slain daughter informed their decision to finally lay her to rest today.

“We have seen suspects connected to her murder arraigned in court. We are happy with the investigations so far and believe her killers will pay for their crimes,” he said.

Migori Governor, Okoth Obado and his two aides, Michael Oyamo and Casper obiero are still in police custody in connection to the gruesome murder of the university student. The trio denied the charges in front of Justice Jessy Lessit and are poised to return to court on October 24 for their bail hearing.
