Leyla Mohamed Can’t Hide Her Excitement Ahead Of Mashujaa Celebrations

Leyla Mohamed, will in just a few hours will get a chance to share her gift of music with the world on a national stage.

Leyla the 13-year old social media sensation took the internet by storm when she released her rendition of the song Wimbo Wa Historia. The song, originally done by Enoch Ondego, tells the story of the early years of Kenya’s independence.

Leyla’s dream of singing before the President came true after KOT used the hashtag #LeylaForMashujaaDay to campaign for the 13-year old to be chosen as one of those who will entertain the President on 20th October Mashujaa Day which will be held at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

The young girl can’t hide her excitement when she shared clips of her rehearsals in Kakamega and her first time on a plane.

“I can’t explain my excitement today morning!! My very first time on an aeroplane was super good, the weather was great and I was so excited to get a seat by the window ? ✈ Our flight was to Kisumu then we connected by car to Kakamega ready for the national celebrations this weekend,” she said.

Rehearsals are currently underway and Kenya’s can’t wait for Leyla’s debut on the national stage.

Leyla Mohamed, a standard eight student at St. Teresa’s Girls Primary School is expected to sit for her national examination this year in November. She was first discovered by Sammy Dee of TruD pictures who shot and directed the ‘Wimbo wa Historia’ video.

Sammy D later introduced Leyla to celebrated Kenyan DJ, Pinye who brought her into the limelight.
